Grace & Lee Wallace (Aug 2005)
Our boys - John & Chris - have been going to Hapkido for 3 years now. They enjoy going to class. They've learned a lot, they are
stronger and more limber and they've had a good time. Chris says, "Hapkido is cool!" and John says, "It's tight!"

Ms. Helen,
How are you? I just wanted to tell you what happened today. Brad [my husband] was up on the roof and fell off. He landed on the concrete on our front
walk leading to the house. Thank goodness he missed the steps and didn't bounce off the porch. When he fell, he landed using a Break Fall
technique and he was fine. I looked outside and saw him laying there in correct position ! :) He is sore but fine. Thank goodness the
techniques that you have taught him are so ingrained in him and he naturally fell that way.
Thanks !

United Hap Ki Do has been a great experience for our nine year old son, Nathan. He started at the age of eight and was somewhat shy
and timid, but quickly found his confidence. The United Hap Ki Do Dojang is a kind, comfortable, and safe learning environment being
that Mrs. Helen makes sure all students, adults, and instructors treat each other equally and with respect. Mrs. Helen also does an
excellent job handling her students in that she is able to balance how much she pushes them to achieve while at the same time, being
understanding and sensitive to each one according to their individual abilities. She is able to do this because she knows everyone
personally on a first name basis, which comes as a result of working with each of them on a one-on-one basis during every class period
to ensure they are progressing and learning new skills.
Mrs. Helen has also helped our son grow and mature as a young boy should, i.e. according to the six tenets of Hap Ki Do: Love, Honor,
Respect, Care, Responsibility, and Peace. I know our son has a better understanding of these important and universal principles and
will be better able apply them to all areas of his life.
Mrs. Helen and her Dojang are a top-notch school!

Our son, Jake, has been in Hapkido for almost 4 years. Hapkido has given him coordination, social skills, and most of all, increased
self-esteem. It is amazing how far Jake has come and it is because of Ms. Helen's support and patience.
We are very impressed with the structure of the class and how the skills learned can be used in everyday life. It is so important in
today's world to for our children to be able to protect themselves.

I'm a thirty something mother of four small children. I've just recently decided to enroll my two older children (4 and 6) into a
martial arts school. I made a list of the schools in our area which included United HapKiDo. After meeting and speaking with Helen
Johnson, the owner and instructor of the school, I knew it was the place for us. I say us because, after viewing our children's first
lesson, my husband and I decided to enroll in the school as well. We have been studying with Miss Helen since July 2000 and love it!
As a woman, I feel more secure knowing that I'm able to defend myself and my children. It's truly amazing how you are able to use just
your body to defend yourself. The great thing about this art is that you don't need strength to perform the techniques. As a mother, I
sleep easier knowing that my children will be able to protect themselves when I'm not around. I've also noticed my children are more
respectful and helpful. Helen Johnson is very knowledgeable in the art of HapKiDo and a great instructor. She is also a very kind and
patient person. We are very pleased with our decision to join United HapKiDo and intend to learn as much as possible.
I don't know much about other arts, but I do know that my family and I enjoy studying at United HapKiDo. I feel that joining this
school was definitely a wise decision.
